Watercolour on Deckled-edged Handmade Paper
31cm x 43cm
Winter with flowing dark hair, holds a small ice pebble as she rushes towards the distant autumn trees, trailing snow flurries from her low-backed transparent dress and cape. I love painting nudes and then adding filmy, transparent, flowing garments; it works especially well on my favourite Indian handmade cotton rag paper. Here I've used a limited palette of white, black and brown watercolour on the teal paper.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so entranced by a medium and have worked steadily on a series of watercolours of figures and landscapes on this gorgeous paper throughout 2016 and 2017 and have made sales to collectors in USA and Australia as well as UK and Ireland.
