Nimisha Doongarwal gets her inspiration from 20th Century artists such as Matisse, Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet. Her works are highly influenced by these masters. As an artist obsessed with colours and female form., she loves to paint contemporary and expressive portraits. Nimisha likes to explore the negative and dark side of human emotion and fill them with colours. The ultimate aim of her art is to connect with people and touch their soul.
Nimisha is a professional fine artist with MFA from Academy of Arts University, San Francisco. She specialises in contemporary realism and expressive realism. She has always been inclined towards art from an early age. She found art as a way to communicate with others. After getting into engineering and working for a few years, she realised her true passion was Art. She re-ignited her passion for art by continuing her studies by taking art courses at Stanford, to help her transformation into a professional artist and not just create art as hobby. She later enrolled onto the MFA program at Academy of Arts, San Francisco, where she is currently a part time student whilst also still working as a full time Software Engineer. Her work is inspired by Indian art, bright colours and culture. Her paintings are mostly oil or acrylic on canvas and her signature work consists of bright, bold colours, with expressive story telling. She is also a member of San Francisco Woman Artists.
