Artist Statement of Sebastian McLaughlin

Sebastian McLaughlin is an Artist from the northwest of Ireland, Buncrana.

He studied Fine Art in Ireland at G.M.I.T. and N.C.A.D., before emigrating to New York City in 2010 to pursue a career in the Arts. During his journey here he has had solo exhibitions, numerous group exhibitions and other music and art projects throughout the city. His works are among various private collectors around the world.

Sebastian's work is a mixture of painting and drawing, using figurative, portraits, landscape and cityscape as subjects matter. He creates work that is atmospherically sensitive, that expresses something to engage with or provoke us to feel, and reflect a thought, a perspective, a message.

He explore subjects through various mediums, from pencil, charcoal, pastels, to oil and acrylic paint. He likes to explore a range of subjects in his surroundings, as well as life drawing and the study of the human figure. Artists that he looks up to and takes inspiration from wide ranging artists, Hopper, Degas, Van Gogh, Egon Schiele, Alex Kanevsky, Daniel Pitin and Kim Cogan.

He currently continues his work studies at "The Art Students League of New York".
