Artist Resume of Robert Bradford

Robert Bradford is best known internationally for his recycled toy sculptures, these works have been shown and collected in over 25 countries. He resumed painting three years ago first using collage on paper, then figuratively on large scale canvases. A year ago, seeking greater freedom of expression he began painting abstractly and collaging over the figurative works finding that this process greatly stimulated the abstract ideas. Hence the 'Trash Art Series ' which is ongoing in 2022.

Robert was trained in painting at Ravensbourne College of Art, England and in film making at The Royal College of Art, London. He has lived and worked in many parts of England and France, as well as in California, U.S.A. He has held lectureships at both Maidstone College of Art and San Diego State University. He has also been responsible for many installation projects in Hong Kong and China. Galleries that have represented Robert Bradford include Envie D'art (Paris and London) and Rebecca Hossack Gallery (London and New York).

Robert Bradford has exhibited and made sculpture on commission for individuals and for public art projects and his artwork has been collected in more than twenty countries - England, Ireland, France, Greece, USA, Belgium, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Czech Republic, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, Turkey, Tasmania and the United Arab Emirates.

For about twenty years Robert has also performed a series of over 30 public pyrotechnic fire sculptures at venues across England, sponsored by Local Councils, the Arts Council of England and Private Companies.

Robert returned to working as an independent artist in 2015, and worked primarily on large scale commissions public sculptural installations for Opus Two in Hong Kong and China (living there and working with assistants) for periods of time -

  • 2016 – 2017 - IAPM Mall, Hong Kong - Christmas Eight Bears Project (including a 3m Bear)
  • 2016 – 2017 - IAPM Mall, Hong Kong - Christmas Eight Bears Project (including a 3m Rooster and 12 Chickens ( Chinese Zodiac Project)
  • 2015 – 2016 - IAPM Mall, Shanghai, China - 'Toy Dogs' Show and ‘Rhino’ installation.

2010 - 2015 – Represented by Rebecca Hossack Gallery (London and New York)

2004 – 2010 - Represented by Envie D'art Galerie (Paris and London)

  • During these two periods the artist’s work was shown in all of the their galleries and in Art Fairs around the world.

Pre 2004 -

The artist spent five years living lecturing on the M.A Art Course at San Diego State University and painting in California. During this period he exhibited in many San Diego and Los Angeles Galleries and Museums, these Include -
