Am I liable to pay Customs Duty on my Artwork?

As with most business transactions that involve the movement of goods across country borders additional taxes can be applied in the form of Customs Duties - these taxes may vary from country to country and be dependant on what sort of item is being shipped.

When shipping goods, Shipping Agents are obliged to pay customs duty when importing goods and items, most Shipping Agents keep hold of the goods until the customs duty is paid by the customer, it is good practice to arrange for the payment of customs duty as soon as possible as delays in doing so can hold up the delivery of your item and potentially cause additional charges from the shipping agents.

In certain countries, duties can be made up of Sales Tax / VAT and Import Duty, please investigate these charges according to your countries regulations prior to completing an order, as that way you will be fully informed of your tax obligations.
