Born in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland, Trisha is a graduate of NCAD (National College of Art and Design), where, under the tuition of some of Irelands greatest teachers and artists of the time, she developed her love for painting in oils.

After graduating in 1966, she taught art at both primary and secondary school levels up to her retirement in 2017.

She now dedicates all her time to painting and her paintings have sold all over the world.

Over the years, Trisha has also collaborated with a stained glass studio designing and painting commissions for church windows.

Her work can be seen in various churches throughout the west of Ireland.

Trisha’s paintings are all oil on canvas and her inspiration is mainly derived from the stunning, ever changing scenery on her door step in the west of Ireland.

Artist Statement

Thanks to the ever changing Irish weather, I mainly have to use my camera as my sketch book, to capture the scene. I then return to the warmth of my studio and start my painting.

Animals in particular have become one of my favourite themes to paint. I loves the characters I can create with them, each one having its own personality.

Oils have always been my favourite medium to work in. They allow a freedom to experiment with light and depth and enable me to create or set the mood of a piece.

My style is realist and all my work is in oils. Oils give me the time to obtain the attention to detail which is evident in my work. Oils make it possible to come back to a painting with a fresh eye and tweak areas which you are no longer happy with.
