Susan Keohane has a Biochemistry Degree and a PGCE for teaching Biology & Science. Her love for the sciences and natural history is evident in her paintings.

Keohane has been painting for as long as she can remember. She is mainly self taught, however, has attended various masterclasses to develop her skills in certain areas. She has exhibited in Kilkenny Arts Week for several years, Wexford Arts Festival and Pictures on the Priory.

Susan works predominantly with oil and acrylic. Living in Jenkinstown Park, Kilkenny with her family and their animals near the banks of the River Dinin and surrounded by the woods, bluebells and fields, Susan is constantly inspired by both the wildlife, water and the animals that she meets everyday.

Whether it be a wild deer eating her lettuce in the garden, her own hens ambling in the garden, a grouse & family crossing the road or a heifer looking over the fence — she simply loves to paint capturing daylight, shadows, evoking a memory. She delights in capturing the ever changing light, mood and colour over the seasons.
