Bigui was born 1972 as Birgit Deuschle in Coburg, Germany.
Her artistic career started in 2000. In this year Bigui moved from Germany to Brazil and stayed there within a decade. Inspired by the culture, nature and colors Bigui was searching for ways to express herself and found a friend, teacher and mentor in the Brazilian artist Nanci Bastos.
Over the next years Bigui and Nanci Bastos worked closely together and Bigui developed her own personal style. The richness of nature, the bright sunlight, the overwhelming palette of natural colors formed and shaped the subjects of Bigui's paintings, her technique and the intense colors of her artworks up to today.
An Interview - Captured by the Colours of Brazil
Today Bigui lives and works as an artist in Coburg, Germany. Her style has not changed. In her mind each artwork starts in Brazil, it develops itself, layer by layer, evolves around repeating subjects of nature, bright colors, the spirit of a 'new world' until she is satisfied with the expression of her painting and it is ready to receive a polished finish.

"So I said to myself – I´ll paint what I see – what the flower is to me but I´ll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it.“ - Georgia O´Keeffe, 1939
What the critics say
"Her art expresses nature in all its form and magnificence and in the clearness of its colours. She depicts the tropics in all its lush appearance. She approached painting in 2000 whilst in Brazil and she was able to represent the charm and fascination which the strong colours of nature have had on her as a painter. She started painting in the art studio of a Brazilian artist. The vividness of her colour palette evokes the smells, the flavors, the sounds of a place, of nature – the true protagonist of her research – which shines with all its vitality in everyday life. The constant observation of nature in daily life with its disruptive nature, fascinates her and lead her to focus on details. The relationship between human beings and nature has changed over the centuries, especially in its artistic representation, but its ancestral and magical relationship is untouched. Certainly, it represents a source of inspiration that continues to influence the viewer´s mind.“ - Laura Francesca Di Trapani 2017
