"Bodybuilder ribbons, colorful American ribbon, packing tape ... I define them: Tapes ..."

For me, the tapes are pure imagery. When I intervene in my works, I feel like an image of the Baroque seeing the volumes and the forms of a body: with devotion and analytical detail. The three great genres of the landscape, the still life and the human figure are constantly present in my work. During the last year of work, I have had new workshop findings, I have observed my corners, finding objects, forms and experiences that I compose in a formal way, as if it were a classic still life ... waiting for the right light to enter through the window, or photographing from my mobile phone those ephemeral moments of the light of my afternoons.

"... There are times that I imagine Morandi entering my studio, composing his bottles or porcelain gossip with my afternoon light, and those moments of workshop talk take me to other times of painting ...". Within the simplicity of my work, I try to capture resounding works, and when I paint my paintings of tapes , and I look at them, these tapes look like enormous sculptures, like strange bodies made with paint. The exhibition is a reflection on the painting in capital letters and, for this, I rely on the exhaustive study of the still life genre." - Alejandro Botubol
